2 Girly Games You May Have Missed

Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure
You play a girl named Cornet who commands an army of puppets by playing her trumpet. She sings sweet songs of love to her dolls throughout the journey to save Prince Ferdinand. Instead of traditional cutscenes, the dialogue is sung like a game-musical. The game plays as a strategy RPG. Cornet commands her puppets across a grid to attack her enemies. She is saccharine sweet in her special attacks, from falling stacks of pancakes to a stampede of cake bounding across the screen. This is the first game from developer Nippon Ichi to come stateside. If you’ve ever played any of their games, you know their humor is quite broad. Thankfully, the game was reprinted and isn’t terribly difficult to find a used copy online.

Stretch Panic
So you play Linda, a girl with an enchanted scarf. Your mission is to exorcise your twelve demonically possessed sisters and restore balance to your family. You use the scarf as your primary weapon. By extending the scarf, you can grab hold of everything in the world. Once you grab hold of an object, you can pinch and twirl the object, or use it to hurl yourself forward. The enemies are mostly big breasted and big bottomed girls who could go for a pinch. It’s got a unique graphic style, especially the hub level, which is rendered as a pencil sketch drawing, ? la Ah Ha’s Take on Me video. I really enjoyed stretching the world with the scarf, it’s tons of fun. This game was brought to you by Treasure. It’s pretty easy to find a used copy of this one.
