Konami Plans A Guitar Revolution

With the recent success of the Guitar Hero series (a sequel and 400k copies sold), it was inevitable and expected that other companies would follow in Octane’s footsteps and try to create a “guitar” game of their own. Konami is the first to do so with a June 29th trademark filing with the US Patent and Trademark Office for “Guitar Revolution.” Continuing the line of “Revolution” games such as Dance, Dance Revolution and Karaoke Revolution.
The filing outlines that there will be an electronic toy guitar for use as the controller, stand-alone game machines featuring the guitars, and coin-operated machines. Now, before you run off crying, “CLONE CLONE,” or whatever, remember that Konami came out with Guitar Freaks for the PlayStation and the arcade in 1999. No doubt in my mind, though, that Konami is looking to cash in on some of Guitar Hero’s success and steal some lime-light for themselves.
For now, we’ll just see where this goes. If you want more info, follow the link to the full article at Gamespot.
