Top 20 Gayest Video Game Characters - #5

5. King of All Cosmos – Katamari Damacy/We Love Katamari
Here we are at the top 5! Can’t you just feel the excitement?
If you’ve ever played the genius Katamari Damacy or it’s sequel, the even more genius We Love Katamari it should come as no surprise that our number 5 slot is filled by The King of All Cosmos.
More pompous, vain and bitchy than a dressing room full of drag queens, and shall we say a… theatrical fashion sense. Purple form fitting cat suit, frilly collar, cape, rainbow headpiece, crown, six pack, prominent package, and facial hair that would make the most seasoned leather bar patron seethe with jealousy. And of course, there are his “Royal Rainbow” powers. This guy is so gay that when he opens his mouth, a rainbow comes out…literally.
They tried to throw us off the track by giving him a “wife”, The Queen of All Cosmos, and a son, The Prince, who you actually play in the game. All this proves to me is that the King has more than one beard and a line on a good orphanage. If your gaydar doesn’t go off into the red zone with this one, it’s time to get new batteries.

Congratulations. This particular part of the article demonstrates best why this peice is a horrible travesty. The best conclusion that can be drawn from this collection of characters is that all the ignorant stereotypes about homosexuals are true. That a character can be defined purely by his looks and flamboyance(or lack thier of) without taking into mind the context within which they are presented is the epitome of ignorance that the gay community should be shunning, not embracing.
The entire point behind Katamari Damacy, and therefore the King of Cosmos, is that it is a pressure free, fun-filled, happy, rediculously colorful environment. The land of rainbows and lolipops.
To insinuate that this makes it or it's characters inherantly gay is an insult to the game, the characters, and possibly most of all the entire gay community.
But then I'd say that about this article as a whole.
