Venture Brothers Season 1 on DVD!

COCKPITS! BOOBYTRAPS!
If you haven’t seen The Venture Brothers yet, I will take this opportunity to shame you in to finding an opportunity to check it out on Adult Swim. A sly mixture of the Hardy Boys, Johnny Quest, Scooby Doo and any other number of 60’s-70’s cartoon references, it chronicles the adventures of two dimwitted brother sleuths (Hank and Dean) and their self-centered scientist father (Dr. Venture) . Round it out with some beefcake bodyguard with a penchant for short shorts (Brock Sampson), a butterfly themed super villain (The Monarch), a villainess named Dr. Girlfriend who looks like Jackie O and talks like Lurch, and you’ve got a hilarious gay old time! Sure the gay humor is sophmoric and ridiculous, but I love it for just that reason. Brought to you by the folks who brought you The Tick, if that gives you any insight into the type of humor we’re talking here. As a matter of fact, Brock Sampson is voiced by actor Patrick Warburton, who played The Tick on the short lived live-action show. He’s the voice of Joe Swanson on Family Guy, and just for that videogame tie-in, he has also provided voices for Metal Arms: Glitch in the System and the Tak series.
Venture Bros. Season One is now available on DVD here.
(If you have Comcast cable, they offer it on their free OnDemand system!)
