Blizzard To Announce StarCraft 2 In 2007?

It’s been a good week for Blizzard. First they announce their plan to release annual World of Warcraft expansions, now this: the Blizz will make a “major project announcement in 2007.” Too vague to get psyched about, right? Not after reading this quote from Blizzard Chief Operation Officer Paul Sams:
StarCraft is my absolutely favorite game of all time. As you probably already know, there is no doubt that we will continue the StarCraft and Diablo franchise, and trust me, I will be the happiest person in the world when we announce StarCraft 2.
ZOMFG. It may not happen until I’m a grandpappy, but how psyched will my I and my babydaddy be when we can play new StarCraft and Diablo games? Hook me up with a new diaper, I’m goin’ in!
Thanks to Joystiq for the dish and pic.

Whatever happened to Starcraft: Ghost?
It was cancelled:

Last year at E3 Blizzard Entertainment was trumpeting “World of Warcraft” and had a playable multi-player version of “Starcraft: Ghost” along with some beautiful CGI. Things seemed fine after some production drama and fans of “Starcraft” were looking forward to seeing what a third person shooter of the famous RTS franchise would be like. Well, it looks like we’ll never know. It’s over.
Blizzard has cancelled all console versions of the game and has stopped production on the title. No real good reason has been given for this, just spin.
