PS3's Online Network Running Internally

Gadgetell reports that the new Playstation’s online network is now operational…internally, that is. This suggests Sony just might be getting it’s act together, finally. Although I sincerely doubt it. GameSpot, in a preview of Full Auto 2, had this to say:
“It’s also worth noting that we played Full Auto 2’s multiplayer on the actual PlayStation network platform, so apparently Sony already has its online gaming infrastructure up and running well ahead of the new system’s release.”
The network should be ready to go when the PS3 launches, maybe, in November. Oh, and before I forget…the “basic” version of the online service is free. That sounds like it won’t be entirely free as I have been lead to believe, after all.
What do you think? Will Sony be able to get it up under all this pressure?
