PS4 A Long Ways Off...AND PS3 Still Not in Production

CNET News, in an interview with Sony’s Kaz Hirai, has reported that the PlayStation 4 is more than 5 years away. With that, Kaz says Sony is committed to their consoles for ten years:
”...we always try to hit a 10-year life cycle. I can’t speculate on when we might come out with a new console after PlayStation 3. But my message is that once you become a family in the PlayStation family of products, you become a family member.”
Hirai goes on to say the 10-year lifespan of the PS3 makes it, at $599, a value.
“We’re not going to ask the consumers to suddenly buy another PlayStation console in five years’ time and basically have their investment go by the wayside. So for all those reasons, I think at $599 we’re offering a very good value to the consumers. “You know, if you think about it, that’s like plopping down $300 every 5 years, isn’t it? Sort of like buying a new console!! When asked how many games would be available for the PS3’s launch, Hirai responded with this:
“That’s hard to try to pin down at this point. Everybody is looking at their entire portfolio of software offerings, and I think that the lineup of titles really is something that won’t be locked down most likely until three to four weeks before launch.”Engage evasive maneuvers!! Timsy doesn’t like the sound of that, at all. I already disliked the $599 price tag, too. Yep, I do not think I’ll be getting a PS3 for quite sometime, and, if the production truly has not started, as Kaz says it hasn’t, neither will most of you. :-( Oh well, it’s not like I have a shortage of games to play in the meantime.
What do you think about this?

It makes me want to buy Sony stock just so I could have a voice in firing the dumb bastard.
