Reggie Weighs In On The Console Wars

It seems Nintendo’s poster boy, Reggie Fils-Aime has decreed that the Wii will be this year’s front runner in the eternal console wars. And rightfully so in my opinion. The DS has far outsold its competitors and the Wii is set to be one of the hugest selling consoles in Nintendo history. In an interview with USA Today, Reggie had this to say about the DS…
“Nintendo DS in Japan outsells all of our competitors by a factor of five to one. We are so far in advance of our handheld competitors that they’re not even on the map.”
Reggie feels the Wii will follow suit, grabbing a large portion of the market that won’t be willing to pay XBox 360 and PlayStation 3’s bloated price tags.
“Our competitors are both going down the same path. Both believe that more and more performance with a higher and higher price tags are their keys to success,”
Obviously it’s way too early to say exactly how things are going to go, but certainly the buzz on the interweb and everywhere else is that the Wii will reign supreme this coming holiday season. Not to say that no one will be buying other systems, but think of your average American parent. You’re out spending the usual gazillion dollars on Christmas gifts and Little Billy and Susie want a video game system. “Hmmm…let’s see $600… $400…. $250….mmm…this is rough…”

Heh, all hail King Reggie, the man who un-fucked NoA.
