Top 20 Gayest Video Game Characters - Honorable Mentions And Ones We Missed #9

Reader Ryan S. sends in this great tip on a NEW gay character in the upcoming XBox 360 RPG Enchanted Arms.
Makoto – Enchanted Arms
There is no question about this one. No guessing, no finding out through innuendo, or being surprised at the end. UbiSoft makes no bones about it, this guy is GAY!
From the website:
“Makoto is openly gay and his friends like to call him “yellow otomegokoro.”
Otomegokoro translated, Ryan assures me, means “girl’s feeling, maiden’s mind”. He also has quite the fashion sense with his Kingdom Hearts-esque jacket with extra-large lapels, short tie, bare midriff and weird sort of skirt thing over his pants. And who could miss those lavender nails! Not surprisingly, most of the guys in this game are very girly looking, but this guy’s the real McCoy!

You can even have him on your desktop!

I wouldn’t put that on my desktop, he looks freakish
I wouldn’t want you on my desktop either, you sound bitter and hateful
It’s sort of sweet how little contact the developers have obviously had with gay men. Points for trying, anyway. And on the other hand, representation for genderqueer people who look like they were dressed by a passing tornado! At long last! ;)
At least it’s a gay character. Yay for that.
According to the rest of his description on the Ubi site, he is basically a hedonistic ditz, and he can’t help but fall in love with Toya, the straight boy. This, along with his habit of cross-dressing, makes his character basically a list of gay stereotypes, designed by and for ignorant straight people. So I guess this means video games have caught up to the level of Will & Grace.
One step at a time my friends…
yet another stereotypically flamboyant skinny guy with bleached hair and extravagant clothes. Grrreat! Release date, here I cum..
Having actually played the game myself, I report that I’ve found nothing to complain about Makato (except that he’s not present in more of the game!). Sounds like some folks are having some issues with femme-phobia. Check your internalized homophobia at the door and you’ll have tons of fun.
I think he’s pretty interesting, funny and cool. I like this guy. Gotta be Enchanted Arms best character. I hope he’s in enough scenes.
His English voice over is so horribly stereotypical, but oh so funny.
What about Don Flamenco, Mike Tyson's Punchout...Pretty Gay
