Game Developers Backhand MC Ellen and Jack Carver

Guess we know how game makers feel according to Gamasutra, which asked game industry professionals, “Which first-person shooter/action title over the entire history of the FPS game do you think has made the biggest ‘quantum leap’ in the genre, and why?”
The top five spots were held by System Shock 2, Wolfenstein 3D, Goldeneye 007, Quake and perennial favorite on every FPS list: Half-Life. Like watching a mother hit their child in the middle of a department store, this list feels awkward for backhanding everyone’s favorite lesbian Spartan soldier and the amazing FarCry:
Please note that while many games received small amounts of votes in this survey, we could not possibly give adequate attention to each of them. ‘Honorably mentioned’ games also voted on by our readers, but not making it into the top five or receiving detailed commentary alongside the voting included Halo, Star Wars: Dark Forces, FarCry, Tribes, and Quake III.
It’s always fascinating to see from the developers perspective what they deem to be the biggest “quantum leap,” compared to what gamers might say.

Alex, Alex, Alex…You missed it! Halo did get it’s nod, just not in a way that a lot of gamers would recognize.
Forget the Flood, the Pfhor were much more interesting.

I don’t know if Halo or FarCry really deserved to be on the list. Not that they were bad games! But they didn’t advance the genre significantly, IMHO.
Tribes, on the other hand, should have been on there. Still an amazing game.
