GayGamer At Dragon Con: Day 1, Pt.1

Wow! What a day it was…Toots, Super Timsy and yours truly headed down to the first day at the Con to check out what it had to offer. I must say, it was a bit overwhelming as the Con is spread out over 3 hotels encompassing many floors of said hotels.
Walking into the lobby, I snapped my first photo of the day that was appropriately enough of two stormtroopers. (You have to get at least one of these at any event, it’s a rule) Then I turned around and was greeted with this delightful sight. From there on out I knew I would be enjoying this experience! And of course, there were many more costumes abound! We snapped a bunch of the really good ones and I’ll post them here soon…
We made our way through the lively crowd to one of the big ballrooms and arrived just in time to see George Takei speaking and even managed to grab some video footage. I’ll save that experience for a separate article as I’m hoping to meet him tomorrow and party down with him at the GLBT Star Trek party tomorrow night.
After George’s very politically slanted interview we decided it was time to check out the dealer tables. I saw some amazing art and was even fortunate enough to meet Al Feldstein one of my very favorite artists from the EC Comics days. He drew and wrote a ton of the Tales Of The Crypt comic series among other things. I will be paying him another visit to talk to him and get a signed print!
Then to end the evening on an interesting note, we attended the Klingon Karaoke which was at turns bizarre and hilarious.
As I write this I am about to pass out on to the keyboard, so I will sign off for now, but I’ll be back bright and early tomorrow morning to bring you some photos!
