Multiverse Will Open MMOG Development To The Indie Scene

Multiverse looks to crack the hard shell of MMOGs by supplying indie developers with all of the tools to create their own MMOG. No upstart company can raise the millions of dollars that it takes to create an MMOG from the ground up, so here comes Multiverse to the rescue.
From the Mutiverse overview on the official site:
Multiverse solves the prohibitive challenges of game creation by providing developers with a comprehensive, pre-coded client-server infrastructure and tools, a wide range of free content—including a complete game for modification—and a built-in market of consumers.
For the first time, indie developers will have the opportunity to create the virtual worlds they’ve been dreaming about. And many of these new worlds will attract players who are completely ignored by today’s MMOG publishers.
At the Austin Game Conference, more than 5,000 online game development teams have signed on to develop on the Multiverse platform. Needless to say, they made quite a splash at the conference. 100 teams are already developing in a private beta, which will open this fall.
