PS2's Killer Line-up

All PS3 bruhaha aside, I love my Sony PS2. It has given me consistent reason to play it in one form or another for a number of years now and I wouldn’t dream of selling it. In an article entitled 10 Reasons Not to Sell Your PS2 Just Yet, Gameworld network has done their homework and come up with a list of ten titles that prove there’s still some life in the old girl yet! Seven of the ten titles are PS2 exclusive and seem to keep coming practically every week for the next several months. The list is as follows..

• Rule of Rose (September 12)

• Okami (September 19)

• God Hand (October 10)

• Bully (October 17)

• Final Fantasy XII (October 31)

• Rogue Galaxy (October)

• Guitar Hero II (November 7)

• Dawn of Mana (2007)

• God of War II (February 2007)

I can safely say that I will probably own all of these titles. Viva la PS2!

Why is Rule of Rose getting all this attention? Yeah it looks cool, yeah it’s Atlus but the Japanese reviews trashed the game, not to mention the English reviews of the Japanese version.

I know reviews don’t make a game but they’re shouldn’t be ignored completely either. What about Atlus other games, Shin Megami Tensei Devil Summoner and Persona 2? They look amazing.

Persona 2 and Shin Megami-whatever-that-long-title-was lack appeal beyond the it’s niche audience. Sure they look cool to the hardcore gamers, but are they really doing anything that different/special enough to the get attention from Joe Gamer? I, personally, wouldn’t put rule of rose on that list, but most of the games on that list appeal to a wide audience and prove that there’s still plenty of fun to be had on a system a lot of us already own.

And if you want to talk about semi-recent Atlus games, forget those games…Steamboat Chronicles ftw!

If it’s a JRPG series not containing the words “Final”, “Dragon”, “Fantasy”, and/or “Quest” in it’s title, most english speaking audiences just won’t care, reguardless of how good the game is.

Rule of Rose is getting the attention due to being developed by Sony first party (and oddly not published by them over here)...and the psydo-lesbian content.

Maybe my internets scarcasm detector is off, but if you ask a silly question [Why is Semi-Obscure-Title X getting more attention than More-Obscure-Title Y?], expect a silly answer.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
