Sam & Max Return

I had some serious concerns about GameTap when it first launched:
There seems to be two distinct paths that GameTap can take at this point.
Path number one involves it becoming the free movies section of your “On Demand” digital cable system. You know, those movies that have run their course from movie theater, to DVD, to pay-per-view, to network television to just being part of the past.
Path number two involves it becoming the HBO for videogames. Sure you’ll get those old movies that have run their course, but you’ll also get original games that publishers would be too scared to produce due to their ingenuity or controversy.
I am happy to announce that GameTap has started down path two. Beginning Oct. 17, you’ll be able to play the new adventures of Sam & Max, titled Sam & Max Episode 1: Culture Shock.
It’s good to see the boys back in a new adventure after thirteen years!
The plan is to have six episodes, and Gametap comprehends the idea of episodic gaming correctly by releasing one episode per month. Six episodes are planned, so the game is done next April. You hear that Valve?!? That’s how episodic gaming is supposed to work!
GameTap now has a slew of different content, and it’s still the perfect thing to have for the office during slow times at $9.95 a month.
