Sony Announces PSP Bundle; Talks Crazy Talk

Sony announced in a press release today that they will be selling a PSP bundle for the holiday season. the bundle includes a copy of the movie “Lords of Dogtown”, ATV Offroad Fury: Blazin’ trails and a Sony 1GB Memory Stick Pro Duo all for the modest price of $250. Sony, it’s time to let go of the price point…just drop the price on the PSP and back slowly away…
Then came this little gem from Peter Dille, senior vice president, marketing, Sony Computer Entertainment America.
“While the PSP system has out-sold all other next-generation gaming handhelds in the period since its launch, we expect this new offering to drive additional consumer interest and sales, particularly as the holiday shopping season approaches,”
Out-sold all other next-generation gaming handhelds?! For once, I am left utterly speechless….

Well of course. You can’t call something like the DS next-gen.
It doesn’t start til we say it does, remember? :D
Obviously its competitor is the GP2X and the late Gizmondo.
They probably counted each color of the DS and the DS Lite as a separate ‘next generation gaming handhelds.’
They’d still be wrong then, Sokatume. The white DS Lite is way outselling them here in the US.
It’s gotta be hard to be in Sony marketing. What could ligitimately, positively say about PSP sales?
This has officially crossed the line from hilarious to just plain sad. Like a once-twink, crystal queen still dancing after the dj stops spinning, we all want to tell Sony to stop, but don’t want to go within groping-distance. Am I the only one that thinks it’s intervention time?
A-hah! I’ve figured it out. Sony must of considered the Gizmondo their only ‘next-gen’ competitor.
Going by that, the PSP is doing really, really well…
Dear Sony,
I love the PS2. Please get cancer and die.
Much affection,
Me.
I guess I’ll never understand why corporate America blatantly lies and gets away with it so often. I don’t know how many times I’ve seen crap like this and nobody calls them on the carpet for it. It’s just so sad though that to “spin” it you have to make stuff up…
@ Ben
Last I checked, Sony was a japanese company… Wouldn’t that make it corporate Japan tactics?
Sure, the PSP is outselling all it’s competitors…if this is Bizarro PSP we’re talking about…
