This super-secret embargoed information that wasn’t allowed to be released until midnight was that IBM has been developing the chips for the Wii since July and… wait, what? Sh*t dude, Super Timsy posted this information on July 5!

Hehe, we just need to find good news for them about the PS3 (and the PSP) for them to be nice to it I think. Maybe do a bit of kissing ass as well. :3
Worst part of the Joystiq article is that Joystiq stuck in their own hypothesis in their opening that the Wii would be out sooner than they all thought and everyone is taking and running with that as the big news. When in fact it is just Joystiq… Being Joystiq.

Actually, according to the article, the news was that they have been SHIPPING the chips, which means Nintendo has them and is making Wii’s with them. It points to an earlier launch date.

Or it could just mean that they are stockpiling their Wii’s so they can make sure not to have a big shortage when they finally push these miniscule boxes into the hands of retailers!
