TsuShiMaMiRe and Peelander-Z Concert

I entered the main ballroom and the crowd had already gathered at the foot of the stage, eagerly anticipating Peelander-Z. So I went over to the merch table to check their wares. There were some Peelander buttons that were adorable, so I had to grab them. Next to the Peelander stuff were merchandise for a band I had never heard of, TsuShiMaMiRe. It was some cutsy-poo Japanese buttons, CDs and DVDs. That’s when I realized it will be a while until Peelander takes the stage. So I went up to the foot of the stage and waited for the band to start.
Somebody introduces the band as TsuShiMaMiRe. and 3 adorable Japanese girls take the stage, and sweetly greets the audience in playful broken English. Then they commence a rockin’ like you’ve never seen. Yayoi, Mari, and Mizue bounce around the stage with a mixure of punk, avant garde, free jazz, ska, surf, and punk. The audience immediately responded to the trio with adoration, after the first song the crowd lit up with cheers, clapping and screaming. Most of the set was from their latest CD Pregnant Fantasy, which I picked up after the show because they were so great. They played for a little over an hour and left their audience wanting for more.
For the Peelander-Z part of the show, make the jump.

After a little time, Peelander-Z took the stage with a parade of Power Rangers inspired pagentry. They had brightly colored costumes and flags. They took the stage, then paraded around the crowd, got back to the stage and let loose. They ripped their outer robes off and tore the ballroom apart with their infectious brand of Action Comic Punk Avant Guard performance. Peelander-Z is on their Super Happe Mania Tour right now, so if you see them playing in your city, run out and see them. Amazing show, it was part circus, part punk, part cartoon performance piece.
After the show, I retired to my car and drove my tired bones home. Great weekend, beautiful people and truly great concert, my weekend is fulfilled.
