Wii Sells Out of Pre-Orders on Amazon

Online retailer, Amazon, allowed customers to pre-order the Nintendo Wii on Friday, September 15, and it sold out the same day. Holy shite!! While that is excellent news, you can bet I’ll be hounding my local EB until I can pre-order one. With my birthday on the 21st, it would be a great present to myself just to pre-order one!
Here’s a comment from one lucky customer who was able to get one:
“Amazon offered preorders with Wii Sports included for $249 today. With 1 day expedited shipping ran $283.83. No absurd bundle required. They began taking preorders this morning and had sold out of preorders by 11 am cst.”
I envy him…but soon I will have my own Wii…pre-order. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to get Sufjan Stevens tickets! Not only can he sing, but he’s damned cute, too.

I didn’t even realize they were taking pre-orders already!
ME NEITHER! EFF!
While I’m generally anti-preorder anything, I too feel the need for Wii. If I had the extraneous cash, it would be nice to feel all warm and fuzzy a month or two ahead of time.
And if I didn’t just buy another pair of Death Cab for Cutie tickets, I’d have to be jealous of the Surfjan situation. Okay, I am still jealous of the Surfjan situation. :)
And just for the sake of plugging another hot rocker guy that I just saw open for KT Tunstall, Kevin Devine. Think Conor Oberst, but not depressing.

Fifteen minutes after arriving, my husband asks “So, is KT Tunstall popular with the lesbians?”
“Well, we’re here, aren’t we?”
KT was just here in N.O. at the House of Blues, I missed her, though. Death Cab will be at another venue in a week or so, methinks. ...and yes, no warning was given at all about Amazon taking pre-orders. I called some EB/Gamestops around here and one of them said if I pre-order a Wii game, I go to the top of the list of people they call to let them know the Wii is in stock.
I also called Toys R’ Us and they told me they won’t be taking pre-orders simply because it won’t be needed. 4 million units to the US, he said. He added that he’d be more worried about running out of Wii-motes.
