Wii System In-Store Pre-Orders...In NYC

We’ve been antsy for word on Wii pre-orders for a while now, and even last week’s Wii bonanza didn’t really address my burning issue (thank you, penicillin…what, too cheap?), which is: when will papa Tiny be able to walk into a real-world, three-dimensional game store and say, “I’d like to hold one of your finest Wiis, please,” without getting either punched in the stomach or finding myself in the midst of an awkward handy. With plenty of major online and brick-and-mortar stores still playing coy with pre-order dates, it’s a pleasure (albeit a geographically unfair pleasure) to see that the Nintendo World store here in my very own New York City started taking pre-orders on Thursday for $50 a Wii. Now, that’s twice what the boys down at the piers will charge you for a similarly named service but it’s a better investment by far, provided you grab one of the paltry 100-300 Wii slots available. Wii slots. The wiggle room for Nintendo humor is getting tighter and tighter, gang. I’m probably too late to dash over and wrangle me a Wii but, as may be obvious, I don’t really deserve one anyway.
