Bethesda To Stores: "Make It Sell, Number One."

Bethesda issued a press release stating that its upcoming PS2 shooter, Star Trek: Encounters is going to beam into stores tomorrow. Wait, did I say beam? Perhaps I meant “slink”.
For those who consider themselves Trekkies, that’s not all! Star Trek: Tactical Assault, will arrive in stores on October 24th, for both the PSP and the DS. Finally, Star Trek: Legacy is scheduled to be released on November 7th for the Xbox 360 and PCs.

Now, Bethesda’s making a big deal about how these games are coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the Star Trek franchise, but I’m more than a little wary about a couple of these game. This is mainly because very little has been advertised regarding Encounters since Bethesda quietly announced its upcoming release back in August (don’t remember that? Don’t worry, you’re not the only one.) Now, granted, this is newcomer 4J Studios’ first title and I have no basis to doubt their development abilities… but this miniscule amount of press information has me a bit worried about the game’s quality. When a game is given as little promotion and as quiet a launch as this, it usually smacks of something neither the developer nor the publisher wants to assume credit for.
And don’t even get me started on Tactical Assault: it might be salvageable on the DS, but I have absolutely no hope for a strategy game marketed for the PSP. Especially a space-combat strategy game. As for Legacy
Still, Bethesda’s the driving force behind these titles, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they games will be decent as opposed to some of the other pieces of offal that have besmirched the proud legacy of James T. Kirk.

I too am worried that this will be a dud, but you never know…reviews should be out by tomorrow.
I thought that ST: Borg was pretty cool, but however, I’m defently looking foward to Legacy, esepcally since Bethesda is working on it.
