Cage Match Between THQ and WWE!

I’ve never been someone who follows professional wrestling, but even I know that Vince McMahon is crazy. Not the adorable, quirky-old-man type of crazy like Stan Lee, either: we’re talking Jack Nicholson crazy but without the charm.

Gamasutra is reporting that game publisher THQ and WWE are once again locking horns in the courtroom; apparently THQ is committing “improper sales” of its WWE games in Japan and other sections of Asia. Exactly how that works, I have no idea… maybe they’re trying to market them as Sumo-style games or something. When legal arguments occurred a couple of years ago, WWE filed a complaint against THQ claiming (among other things) that the publisher was guilty of bribery and racketeering. This time, it seems like WWE is after something else:

The lawsuit seeks, among other things, a declaration that the WWE is entitled to terminate the video game license and monetary damages. THQ officials have described the lawsuit as being “without merit”, with the company promising to defend itself vigorously.

This move has a lot of people scratching their heads, since WWE titles like Smackdown are strong performers on the market and have made both companies a lot of money over the years. Maybe WWE is really just angry over the insane load times on its PSP titles.

I used to work for THQ actually, although I never had to work on the wrestling games, I had always heard they were pretty crappy.

Maybe all these lawsuits are why the WWE games are all so terrible.

Actually, load times even on the 360 are completely insane. The games are crap, but sell well. I bet they have EA or someone dangling a lot of dollars in their face and they want out. Really, though, who cares… wrestling is dying.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
