Constant Friend Code On The Wii

Revolution Interface

Nintendo Europe has confirmed that the Wii will not have game specific friend codes. Instead Nintendo is utilizing a console specific game code that doesn’t change from game to game.

Many gamers have complained about the endless list of friend codes you have to collect on your DS, to connect with your friends. Changing to a constant friend code will alleviate a considerable amount of hassle.

It’s a great idea. Imagine running into one of your friends in Animal Crossing, who you didn’t realize had the game. You drop your shovel in surprise, then frolic through the forest together into the evening.

The only thing that Nintendo needs to do is protect games like Animal Crossing so people can’t come into your town and vandalize it without your permission.

I would gladly open my Animal Crossing town to vandals. Anyone out there who would like to disrespect my town is welcome. I’ll leave the gates open, take everything you want.

I think it’s the same deal as the DS in terms of only two people who have each other’s friend codes will be able to interact with their Wiis.
So, this scenario of running into a friend who you didn’t know had the game won’t really happen.

If they’re going to be implementing a single-code system, then why wouldn’t they just make it a single-name system? Certainly it’s a move in the right direction, but instead of giving someone a 16-digit number, it would be a lot easier to give them a name.

But, good show nonetheless.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
