G4 Death Rumors "Totally Bogus"
Yay. Despite reports that parent company Comcast was absorbing its G4 channel and, more dismayingly, folding its resources into the spoiled rich girl channel ...I mean, E!...it seems that G4 fans have something to live for after all. So get out of the bathtub and put down the toaster. Carefully.
The good news comes straight from the horse’s mouth, which is to say, The Feed, which described the move as more of a corporate restructuring than a programming change. Comcast is absorbing G4’s operations into E!, but only to save more money for programming:
That doesn’t mean we’re becoming E! or that we’re being taken-over or that we’re being taken off the air, or anything, really. All it means is that our boss’s boss’s boss got a new boss. In short: Your G4TV experience will remain the same… actually, we think it will only get better because of this…
I’m willing to buy that line. I know G4 isn’t HBO, but it’s nice for gaming to have a home in my box (my cable box, you filthy-minded popinjays). Long live gaming television!
