Wow, Fruit Brute you have a great voice.
I objected to some content on this video on an earlier posting; well my objections to this video were not directed to people who think gay bloggers want to see gay signs in everything / on everyone; its a matter of FACT some of Dead Rising, as pictured in the video, is very plausably gay-oriented; my objections were towards the use of “The Gays” and some of the tone used, that to the outside sensibility that is accostumed to “gay” as an adjective to what is uncool or bad, wont help matters towards an un-ghetto image of the community;
saying that there’s an agenda to the video to do propaganda for gay men is another way of missing the point I had not predicted, but voilá, there it is… And its very sad;
And since the subject’s still on, I might as well add that “The Gays di this” and “The Gays like that..”—- that implies everyone gay is like that: I was accused of trying to impose my ideas to others, yet what I was complaining was that very same imposition by the authors of the video themselves.

T
Christ, Fruit Brute was using the stereotypes in the name of comedy. Dude, is it so hard to understand what comedy is? Who in their right mind (key words) would think Fruit Brute is saying that all gays like to shop in a serious manner. He’s applying a widely know stereotype because the context clearly lends itself to it. When doing comedy, you don’t use some obscure piece of information because the audience will sit there and go, “huh?” Stereotypes lend themselves to comedy because they instantly pull an image and/or idea into the audience’s mind. The validity of the stereotype is not the point. Making people laugh is.
What are we supposed to do? Oh, hey, I know. Lets all be good little PC homos. That’ll rid us of our second-class citizen status. No, it won’t.
Instead of coming to a lighthearted blog that puts a face to the gay gamer, and to a lesser extent, the gay geek (which breaks stereotypes!)why not put that energy into a political movement. I doubt many of us need to be taught the invalidity and unfairness of gay stereotypes. If you’re as concerened about the well-being of gay people as you say you are, it would serve you far better.
Lastly, as long as you continue to apply rational logic to irrational behaviour, you’re going to keep running in a circle.
I agree—Fruit Brute has a pretty sexy voice :)
So how do you do that little dance that you show in the video? The one where Frank thinks he sneaky by getting away with wearing a dress. I don’t have the game, so bear with me :P As soon as I do get it, I’ll of course want to do that little dance.
Ahem; I said I found it funny; what I also said is that, in a mainstream media outlet like MTV Overdrive, it’s using tones and terms whose meaning is only comedic and cathartic within the gay community; what the video is, is comedy for gay guys and other inteligent people that can pick up the sarcasm; what it is, also, is further proof to a 13 year old that “Gay” is the word of choice for naming anything he dislikes;
As for being PC… far from it.. Any visit to my website will show I am actually not.
Cheers.

I might add that when you say “Instead of coming to a lighthearted blog that puts a face to the gay gamer, and to a lesser extent, the gay geek (which breaks stereotypes!)why not put that energy into a political movement.” – well I wouldn’t have commented were the video not on MTV Overdrive; And thank you for your advice on being more envolved in political movements; while I dislike politics in general, I do and did often times before lots of voluntary work for non-profitable organizations that deal everyday with poverty, disease and homophobia; I expressed my feelings towards a mainstream use of a very specific tone of comedy and first you accused me of trying to force my ideas to everyone, and now that I am coming here to compensate for lack of commitment in real world activism; I am not here trying to be an activist, I have other ways to do so, if I wish; I love this site, come here 4 or 5 times daily (if I can), and I respect and appreciate your opinion, but alas, it is not the only one.
Cheers,

I didn’t see you speak your feelings. I saw you generalize and speak for a group of people that you don’t know as noted below. This is why I “accused” you.
Tufas said: Whats going on here is that we, as gay guys and girls, are allowed to make fun of ourselves and the cliches around ourselves.. much like african-americans can call themselves “niggers” but its not acceptable for other people to do so (agreed)
Anyhow, I disagree with some of the other things you stated but I’ll leave it that as I don’t want to take over the comments here. I sure as hell hope my opinion ain’t the only one, that would be a sad world haha. While I am new to this site, I too am loving it, see you around.
Fevrin, Frank does that dance when you go into a clothing shop and change into a dress.
LOL! I wasnt particularly interested in Dead Rising until I watched this- That is so funny when Frank is running around in a dress smackin’ Zombies with a handbag LOL—SOLD!
Yey

Dead Rising is a great game as you can see from my raving in my review: Dead Rising Review
It does have some “gay” moments (I would say more “Camp”), but it’s most certainly not “gay” (in the way most teenage boys use the term). :)
