Jack Thompson Could Be Jailed Over "Bully" Case?
Possibly. The gaming community has laughed at Jack Thompson’s antics for quite some time. He has been trying to take down the gaming industry for many years, with his pointed attacks at Rockstar Games over the Hot Coffee incident and the violent nature of many of their games. Now he has shoved that fat foot of his in his gaping pie hole, yet again. Take-Two Interactive is actively trying to see that Thompson is declared in contempt of court. This means that if Thompson is convicted of contempt, he could face some jail time. If the judge is lenient, he could face a lesser sentence of fines, judicial admonishment or censure.
Attorneys for Philly law firm Blank-Rome, has filed for a “Petition of Order to Show Cause.” This motion requests that Judge Friedman orders Thompson to appear in court to show cause as to why he shouldn’t be held in contempt.

Of course, Thompson over-reacted to this whole debacle, by issuing some nasty emails to the Judge and Take-Two. Game Politics got their paws on some of the messages:
‘You want to play hardball…? You want to try to throw me in jail? You have no idea what you are unleashing in doing this. You’re at the brink…”
“If this court in any fashion proceeds toward issuing a show cause order, given its utter baselessness and the bad faith goo in which it slithers, then Thompson will add whatever judge should do so as a defendant in the aforementioned federal civil rights action…”
It’s just sad when closed minded individuals try to assert their ideals on other people, thus limiting our collective freedom. I hope that this sort of thing continues and Jack Thompson looses steam. He doesn’t seem to be accomplishing much, except for making himself look like a fool to an entire industry.
