Microsoft Drops F-Bomb On Israel
All right, this isn’t technically game news, but it’s gaming-adjacent and it’s freaking hysterical. According to the bad boys at ITWorld, the name that Microsoft’s chosen for its iPod slayer, Zune, is perilously close to the Hebrew word for “f*ck.” Naturally, some Israelis and linguists at Jewish centers around the world think the idea is a little, well, “Zuned.” I’m pretty sure my old hippie rabbi is laughing his tuchus off; oh Rabbi Joe! This is hardly the first time a company’s product line has translated embarrassingly into another language. Chevrolet’s Nova, for instance, had Spanish speakers wondering why in heaven’s name they would ever buy a car that sounded like “No go.” I dimly remember some other mishaps…anyone care to share?

There was a ‘Mist Stick’ curling iron once…And I forget which language it was, but mist was slang for human waste.
Well… there was of course the infamous Mitsubishi Pajero, released here in sunny Spain as Montero, because pajero in Spanish means someone who jacks off a lot ;)
Mist means basically “shit” in German, but I think it’s more like “cowshit” or “horseshit”, since scheiss is people shit.
