If you need more proof that North America is behind the times in marketing strategies, just check out this advertisement by Sony Computer Entertainment for the Singstar (PS2) series featured in U.K. gay lifestyle magazine Attitude.
The image depicts three oiled, shirtess firemen having a gay ‘ol time singing “It’s Raining Men”. You can’t help but suspect that Sony was trying a little too hard. But they get an “A” for effort. There are so many innuendos crammed within the photograph.
Geez, Throw in two Italian strippers dressed as plumbers and it could have been a photo taken at the Gay Gamer Oktoberfest Fiesta held last weekend! Bigger image after the jump.

Sony must have invested a lot of time and money to realize that gay boys play videogames too; Especially ones that allow them to sing Kylie Minogue and Scissor Sisters songs. The Eurpopean Singstar series is slated to debut in North America for the PS3 launch, but a less than stellar (less homoerotic) ad campaign is to be expected.
Note: Singstar will not actually melt your PS2 console and television. However, the PS3 version is still under development.
