Over 100 SuperGroups and VillainGroups Left Homeless!

Last Friday evening, SuperGroup bases on City of Heroes’ Victory server began disappearing. Upon arriving at their bases, they were faced with, well, nothing (as pictured on the right). By Saturday night, over 100 bases in City of Heroes and City of Villains had vanished into thin air, taking with them all the accumulated Prestige and items these groups had worked so hard for. The SuperGroup I belong to, Rainbow Alpha Force, was one of the many groups affected by what NCSoft and Cryptic called a “hardware malfunction”.

The problem still had not been fixed as of the publication of this article, but this morning the powers that be offered up this missive to all the affected groups:

“We’re going through with a fix as of this morning. Here is what is going to happen when Victory is back up: Affected bases will be restored to the time of 2006-09-29 at 03:00:00 EDT. SG information such as rosters and rent were not affected. Restored bases will find that their prestige will go back to the time above. To help with this each affected SG will receive 1,000 prestige per SG member. We are very sorry for the trouble this has caused. Our folks at Cryptic and NCsoft have been working very hard on this. All options were explored and the action taken here was deemed to be the best solution possible”

Thanks to Rainbow Alpha Force leaders Justin Taylor and Summer Heat for the info and photo.
