Puyo Pop Turns 15! Party On The DS.
Puyo Pop is heading back to the DS for a 15th anniversary edition. The multiplayer features sound pretty beefy with 8 player local wireless play from a single cartridge. The previous Puyo Pop DS had local wireless play also, but Nintendo is now supporting the WiFi connection on this title with up to 4 players competition over the internet.
One of the biggest improvements to the game is the inclusion of the portal world. From IGN’s preview:
The game is set in a small town called Purinpu Town. Playing as one of the three main characters (Amity, Rafeena and Shigu), you can move around town, speaking with characters, taking on challenges, shopping and even checking your mail. As you play, you’ll get lots of mail, including Christmas items and mini games.
The new Puyo Pop will release on December 24th in Japan, let’s hope that this one gets localized. There’s been a soft place in my heart for Puyo Pop since I was a wee lad, playing Dr. Robotniks Mean Bean Machine. Now I can fit it in my pocket, sweet sweet progress.
