Saturday Morning Cartoons: Zelda

Well, Excuuuuuse Me Princess!

So, I missed posting up a cartoon last Saturday morning, and for that I’m terribly sorry. It turns out that staying up ‘till 4 AM playing old-school arcade-style Gauntlet on the 360 makes for a late start the following day. Damn you Xbox Live. Damn you.

To make up for it, no tricks this week. We’re skipping past the creepy Pac Man episodes and the twelve different varieties of Mario Brothers cartoons and taking the good stuff down off the top shelf. That’s right friends and neighbors: Zelda. Make the jump for some good ol’fashioned sword-shooting, princess-groping action.

OOOooo anyone else catch the continuity error at 3:49 in part 2?

Lectric Lich said:

While both parts worked fine for me, if the second part gives anyone else any trouble there’s another copy (with a little overlap) here.

Oh man, I haven’t seen this in AGES! Like, not since I was 5!

And apparently they celebrate Christmas in Hyrule. And have irons. Who knew?

Richie said:

@Steven: Uhh, yeah, did the real Zelda randomly become fake Zelda for a second? That was odd.

I have the box set! ROFL!

There’s a boxed set of this!? 0_0

Did they just sort of forget about the 3rd triforce?

Silver R. Wolfe said:

Apparently so. Tri means two now, didn’t you hear?

That Anti-Zelda is a filthy whore.

@PsychoDan & Silver

When these were made (or at least written and inked), I think Zelda 2 hadn’t come out just yet, so there were still just two triforces in the Zelda “mythology”. I think the show got canned before they could have worked something like that into the plot.

Thanks gaygamer.net! This is one of my FAVE Zelda episodes!

I love how the cartoon made Zelda a rockstar rather than some passive Japanese giesha damsel like in most/all of the videogames. I always look to this series for inspiration of what Zelda could have been: a no-holds barred, mud-wrestling, Triforce-wielding diva supreme.

dreamy sigh
