Super Mario Brothers Super Strip Show!
Wow, I really thought I had seen it all when we posted the bear-daddy Mario and Luigi, but this goes beyond even that. These renditions were created by Japanese artist Goujin Ishihara for a retired Nintendo magazine Famicon Tsushin. Titled “The Youth of the Mario Brothers”, it shows us quite a different Mario and Luigi; having their meager start as burlesque dancers and then going on to become huge television stars. The illustrations are well executed, but the one of them as strippers is just a little disturbing and I somehow can’t imagine them appearing in a Nintendo branded magazine. But we all know the Japanese are a bit more open about this sort of thing than we uptight Americans, so I guess it just goes with the territory.
