Zelda Hylian Text Translations

Windwaker Hylian Text

Ever wonder what all of the Hylian text in the Zelda series actually says? Apparently the Hylian text is an actual language the developers have used to adorn the world of Hyrule. It’s based off of Japanese, so the text must be translated to Japanese, then to English. Hylian text has been used in the Zelda series since Ocarina of Time and has appeared in every game since. There are actually two alphabets Old Hylian and Modern Hylian, each are used in accordance to the chronology of each given game. Zelda Power has gone through the trouble to translate some of the text from Ocarina of Time and the upcoming Twilight Princess.

This one goes out to all of the rabid polyglots out there. It’s fascinating to finally see what all of that chicken scratch actually means.
