Are You There Mother 3? It's Me, Margaret...

I just can’t understand you. It seems like we speak a different language. As hard as I try, I can’t get to know you. Once upon a time, I fell in love with Mother 2, and life was grand. Mother 2 was funny and irreverent, she had a style unlike any other. Amidst the sea of darkness surrounding many RPG’s of the time, you were a searing beacon of sillyness.
Now Nintendo’s Treehouse localization team tells me that we can’t breach our communication barrier with Mother 3. I can’t believe it, I don’t want to believe it. The gang at Planet GameCube recently spoke with Nate Bihldorff from Treehouse and this is what came of the conversation regarding Mother 3’s translation:
Bihldorff: Man, Mother 3. I don’t know what’s going on with that game. That’s already out in Japan, right? Was it awesome, did you play through it?
PGC: No. I’d like to, but it’s all in Japanese. That’s where you guys come in!
Bihldorff: No, me personally, I’m not working on Mother 3. I don’t have all the writers under me, so there may be other people in discussions going on with it, but I wouldn’t look forward to it in the immediate future, no. Sorry, I know! There’s a big Mother fanbase, there is. At least everyone can go back and play Melee to get your Ness on. [Laughs]
That’s not funny, man. I don’t see anyone laughing. So that’s it then, I guess we will have to go on our separate ways, Mother 3. Let’s hope that you get your localization in some format, maybe the Nintendo Wii Virtual Console? Maybe the fan localization effort at Mother3.org will come through? Then we hill herald the coming by ringing all of the bells in the castle, and stage a parade in Mother 3’s honor. If not, I guess I’ll just play Mother 2, ‘till the end of time.

Personally, I blame the mediocre sales of the mediocre port of Tales of Phantasia (GBA) for ruining Mother3’s chances of release.
Either that, or the Magypsies.
Thanks Nintendo, for killing true love.
