Console Battle Royale!
Engadget has posted what is quite possibly the best gaming photo series of the holiday season. The lucky bastards guys have unpacked both their PS3 and Wii and placed all three units side by side and are encouraging all of their readers to debate which console is the greatest.
Go ahead, debate it. Just be nice, ok? At the end of the day the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, they’re only video game consoles, and we love our babies the same.
I’ll say this much: in terms of space-saving, it looks like the Wii is the clear winner here. That means you’ll probably find it in a lot more college dorm rooms than the other two consoles.

I have to say personally I’m most excited about the Wii! =] But otherwise, I think it at least wins the “cutest” award! lol
the ps3 is huge and not sexy at all. I want a wii so bad!
I think the PS3 design is uber sexy, especially compared to the “Uglier than the original Xbox” 360 design. That’s possibly the ugliest console ever designed, right there.
The Wii is simply awesome, I want it and a PS3 so much I can taste it…
is it just me or does the wii look like an external floppy disk drive gone white?
i dont know, the Wii looks pretty darned sexy-svelte next to all the others.
For proper size comparison, you need to throw the 360 power brick in alongside the 360. Seeing as how the PS3 has that internally.
Ranking by aesthetics for teh wuffamute:
PS3
Wii
Xbox 360 (if it were black, it would trump all).
I personally think the Wii and 360 stands head and shoulders above the PS3’s styling. I can’t quite understand the amount of people now saying that the PS3 monstrosity is now attractive. Ooh..it’s…shiny…and black!!
It’s like some bastard love child of a 80’s laserdisc and B&O tape player. It’s profile is so messy and illogical, I just don’t get it…
But then I never ‘got’ the PS2 air conditioner look either.
I think I agree with Monkeyrimace on this one. All the ads and photo’s I’d seen up to now had shown the PS3 from the top. from that angle it looks ok. However I was shocked when I saw this picture and realized how big and bulky it really is. I like the size and shape of the Wii. Although I’ll have to say I love the look of the 360. The plain white really ain’t my thing but a new face and I’d be good to go. I actually saw on ebay not long ago someone had painted Master chief onto one of those face plates.
