Eragon Interview Sheds Light On Development

Gamezone.com has posted an interview with Tim Ramage, the producer of Vivendi-Universal’s upcoming Eragon console title. The game, which is based on the movie which is in turn based on the novel by Christopher Paolini, is a joint-project between Sierra and Stormfront Studios and is certainly getting a lot of attention now that its release is so close.
Q: Eragon is an, as of right now, unfinished book trilogy. How hard was it to create a game based on a set of novels in which the outcome was unknown to all but the author?
Tim: The game is actually based upon the movie, which is based upon the first novel, so that was a challenge we didn’t have to face. If all goes well, then we’ll hopefully get to follow up with games based on The Eldest and the unnamed third book (Writer’s Note: the teaser at the end of Book 2 named the third novel Inheritance, though that could conceivably change) of the trilogy.
The interview is interesting, primarily because Tim gives some thoughtful answers to the Gamezone guys . I wasn’t all that impressed with the game when I first read previews and saw some footage at E3 (then again, I wasn’t a huge fan of the book either), but I have to admit that I’m becoming more and more hopeful as time goes on and more footage is released. Hopefully this will fall into the small category of “licensed games that don’t suck”.
