Fall Update Turning XBox 360's Into Doorstops
You might want to think twice before you download that new fall dashboard update for your Xbox 360. That is, of course, unless you want a nice 360 paperweight and let’s face it, if you own a PSP so you probably don’t need another paperweight. (Sorry, I couldn’t help myself.)
Aeropause is reporting that many 360 owners are filing complaints with the (typically) unhelpful Microsoft tech department after downloading the new dashboard update and receiving the dreaded “red ring of death”. I guess the fall update will join the ranks of Dead Rising and Prey as possible Xbox killers. It is thought that the update was meant to “brick” any modded 360’s out there, but that something went awry and it’s affecting un-modded ones as well. Microsoft has yet to issue a statement on the subject, so I’ll be sure and keep my 360 off the internet until more is known. Can anyone out there share their experiences either good or bad on the subject?

Just bit the bullet and updated my Box; all went as planned and now I’m enjoying a revamped XBLA screen as well as streaming much video from my PC. My 360 is neither modded nor a recent purchase, which I hear are the problem ones. Good luck, y’all!
I went ahead with the update (took 2 mins) and no problems. No mods, and got my 360 in the summer. Love the changes in marketplace etc.
I updated my 360 and I don’t have any problems (for once)! The changes are cool.
Nope, no problems at all. Got the update up and running under 2 minutes. My boyfriend’s 360 works too. And we bought ours last month.
No problems here either!! Better not be as I waited 14 damn hours outside of a Best Buy for mine.
Didn’t accusations of the spring update bricking systems fly around back then too? In any case, my system’s working fine after the fall update.
worked perfectly here too. no problems at all.
I have been effected by this and still have not heard back to any of my emails! I love how they get the hype going for GoW and then bust my 360 with their non-tested patch!?
Its like having someone reach into my pants and rub me a bit, then leave me there to hang!
