Nintendogs Plushies: This Year's Furby?

It totally makes sense that Nintendo has taken their Nintendogs franchise to the next level of interactivity. I guess it’s just strange that it took them this long to cash in on the marketing gold that is interactive stuffed animals. I also expected such a thing to hit the US first, since we tend to be perfect suckers for random swag.
It seems that in the UK, though, Nintendog plushies are hitting stores in times for the holidays. While they’re cute, the cheaper dolls aren’t really all that impressive. The Trick Trainers, though, seem like they might be fun gifts for little kids this Holiday Season… they seem to be interactive on the same level as Furbies, based on the commercial that’s being aired in the UK.

I saw these in the Nintendo World Store last week. Actually managed to distract me from the Wii momentarily. I totally would’ve gotten one of the large pugs, but it didn’t look that great. Kind of overly-cartoony-looking, and a wee bit ugly. And they didn’t have a little pug. Though the large ones were only $14.99, which I thought pretty reasonable. (couldn’t find a price tag on the little ones, but I’d guess $10) I wanted a stuffed version of Wilbur!
Actually I gave one of those to my bf one month ago…
They are available in toys stores in france almost everywhere.
The little plushes are quite ugly, and I didn’t recognize the labrador until I read the name on the box. The japanese plushies were much, much cuter.
The big dogs are nice, though, but don’t expect much interactivity, these aren’t furbys.
We have the german shepherd one : when you pet it on the back, it makes barking sounds, waves his tail, and moves his ears, but.. that all.
It’s cute tough, and a nice gift for a nintendog fan.
My cat loves it, too: he loves playing with wiggling tails, just like papa.
