OPM Lives On In Europe
Y’know, some of us actually liked Official Playstation Magazine for its articles… kinda like most teenaged boys like Playboy. No, wait, I actually did read it for the articles… how sad is that? Anyway, for those of you who still want to read OPM, rejoice: the magazine will still be published in the UK. Granted, it’s a completely different news rag with a totally different publisher, but it’s got the same name as before. According to GamesIndustryBiz:
[OPM’s shutdown in the USA] is a matter between Ziff Davis and Sony US. In the UK and Europe, Future continues to enjoy a long and successful relationship with Sony Computer Entertainment Europe,” a Future spokesperson told GamesIndustry.biz
Hmmm… that little quote leads me to suspect that maybe there’s more going on between Sony and Ziff Davis than was implied by their announcement the other day. Then again, I’ve gotten to the point where I generally assume the worst about anything Sony’s involved with.

Well, I read it as Sony is no longer allowing Demo discs, so ZD kinda doesn’t feel the need to pay the huge licensing fees to use the name, they can start up another magazine with the same staff and call it PS3mag or PlayStation stuff.
