PSP Firms Up With V3.0

Guess what, y’all? It’s PSP firmware update time! You know what that means…pull out your PSP, dust it off, plug it in (because it’s been so long since you played the damn thing that the battery’s dead), download and install the update, cock around with it for a while until you realize that no freaking software update is going to suddenly make the PSP fun, then put it back in a drawer for two months. That’s what happens chez Tiny, anyway.
But what changes have been made? In addition to a browser upgrade and the ability to auto-download podcasts (which is pretty cool), PSOne emulation will be rolled out in the coming weeks, although I’ll keep my mouth shut about that until I see it in action. Other updates include:
• PLAYSTATION Network titles are now supported under [Game].
• [Remote Play] has been added as a feature under [Network].
• [Online Instruction Manuals] has been added as a feature under [Network].
• Timed recording has been added as a feature under [RSS Channel].
• A visual player has been added as a feature under [Music].
• 3-speed fast forward and fast reverse has been added as a feature under [Music].
• [Camera] has been added as a feature under [Photo].
• [UMD Auto-Start] has been added as a feature in [System Settings] under [Settings].
Enjoy!
PSP Firmware V3.0 Released [Aeropause]

if you are running still firmware 2.80 or lower – why not make your psp more fun? have a look at www.psp-hacks.com and let it inspire you…
i had a great time with my little black bastard and homebrew emulators. the display made all these classics look far more brilliant than they ever looked.
I upgraded to 3.0. Just the ability to disable the auto-run made it worth it to me. Plus, I still use my PSP everyday for all the great fun games on it so I have no need for homebrew.
I’m currently cooking through Mercury Meltdown and Kangaeru Exit.
Bah, I need no update, I need to keep it at 1.5 so I can run all the sweet, sweet emulators it offers.
I am so tired of the “dusting off the psp” jokes. If you seriously havnt found anything to play on it AT ALL this year, you are living under a rock.
PSP didn’t fulfill your expectations of joy and satisfaction so you’ve found somebody new, and screw PSP! For making a fool out of you, for always holding back even after you ate Ramen for a month so you could keep PSP in style. And NO you can’t be friends, you won’t even consider it (imagine! after the way you were treated!). Nevermind that PSP was just a kid then and has grown up some. Or that PSP simply couldn’t be what you wanted it to be, that it’s just got to be itself, and maybe that means that it just couldn’t work between you. No! You’ve got to hold on to your bitterness and enmity lest PSP somehow insinuate itself back into your life. But could you please stop yelling at PSP and its friends when they walk by, and the crank calling is getting pretty old. They just wanna do their own thing, and they’re not bugging you, so a little respect and courtesy would probably be appreciated.
