Twilight Princess Glitch Revealed

The guys over at Dustinsoftware.com have discovered a glitch in the Nintendo Wii version of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess that could prevent you from finishing the game. They created the above video of the glitch at work.

They discovered that after the player saves in the room with the big cannon that Link is unable to warp the cannon out of the room because the game claims a man is watching you still, but if you look around no one is there. If you try to leave the room, the man appears at the door and won’t let you leave. You’re stuck. You can’t leave and you can’t progress the storyline.

So for those playing Twilight Princess right now, don’t save in the cannon room.

That is by far one of the worst glitches i’ve ever seen… I hope it’s not terrible far into the game when that happens…

I wish I could even get that far into the game, but my system is defective. The wifi wont work, so I wont touch the system until i get it fixed because i’m probably going to have to send it in to get replaced, and if that happens, then i’m going to lose my game save, i’m already over 10 hours in which is probably shot. And i cant save to an sd card because that requires a freaking patch or something. Whos stupid idea was it to require a patch so you could save to a physical memory card? And i’ve called htem tiwce and they are useless. Put me on a callback list both times…stupid nintendo… They’ve lost me as a fan.

it’s pretty darned far. thank you for the warning! i will not save in frackin cannon room.

It only happens if you save & quit. Also, the same kind of problem happens if you save & quit immediately after the Eldin bridge is taken away and before going into the twilight again. When you restart, you are on the wrong side of the bridge with no way to get across.

They spent so long developing the game, pushing it back. This is what we get? I am sure these faults will be rectified in later editions of the game. This is not satisfactory!

I hope that glitch isn’t in the Gamecube version…

Eep! Thanks for the warning! I think I’ll start using alternating save files.

And now we find out whether Nintendo is able to use WiiConnect24 as a patch distribution system.

Wonder if the Action Replay guys will be able to come up with some kind of patching mechanism, or if a little clever save file editing will take care of it.

I haven’t even opened my copy of Zelda yet, so I don’t know, but what are you supposed to do in that situation even if you don’t save? Wouldn’t the guy still be watching you if you try to warp? And wouldn’t the guy still not let you leave?

I believe it uses a similiar save system to MGS which it saves in the beginning of a area/zone. But if you saved and done something in that zone it stays that way. Which would explain the bridge problem. I can’t be totally sure though.

Harvest Moon DS beats it by a mile and a half.

I just posted a message on dustinsoftware.com two days about this glitch. I was really curious to see if this glitch would happen to me. I did create a backup file beforehand. Once I arrived in the cannon room and Shad followed behind me, I saved and quit my game. Then I turned on my system and started my game up and I tried to warp the cannon and Midna didn’t have any issues sending it to Lake Hylia after I had Shad leave. Shad was still in the room when I returned to my game. I was able to continue my quest to save Hyrule.

I did get this game on the day for release.

My gamecube version of Zelda has a glitch in it too, but it isn’t too bad. Everytime i start the game and i pick up a 5 rupee it goes into that “yay good job you have picked up a 5 rupee for the first time!” mode. It’s wierd, but i can deal. Just finished the game today.

This may have been fixed for the PAL version. Also, from studying the background, it seems the man IS at the top of the stairs.
