Wii: 600,000 Sold And Counting

Hot damn, those newfangled Wii consoles are more popular than pancakes, including those really tasty pancakes with bananas and strawberries baked into them. Since the console’s launch on November 19, over 600,000 units have been sold, which amounts to ~$190 million in sales.
But wait! That’s not all:
Launch title The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess has proved particularly popular, with more than 454,000 units sold – meaning three out of four hardware purchasers picked up a copy.
“Even with sales already in excess of 600,000 units demand continues to exceed supply, as it’s clear this is one of the ‘gotta-have’ products for the holiday season,” said Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime.
“We’ve shipped retailers several times the amount of hardware the other company was able to deliver for its launch around the same time – and we still sold out.”
And guess what? I still haven’t been able to find one!

Way to go Nintendo! I hate myself for not bying their stock before the launch.
hahahaha “the other company”
do we have angry fanboys yet? this seems like a good post to complain about the ‘bias of the site towards nintendo’ or ‘liberals’ or something.
@voltRis: Reggie’s the one who said “the other company”. Apparently he considers “Sony” a curse word, or maybe a racial slur.
You haven’t gotten a Wii yet? Aww, I’m terribly sorry. You’re really missing out! I waited for 17 hours to get my Wii. It was all worth it though! I was number 6! Woo-hoo!
Some of us have jobs that we can’t skip out on. Or we’re lazy. I qualify for both categories.
this post makes me want a wii even more :(
kudos nintendo
Yeah I still can’t find one either. And I have Zelda sitting here just waiting for a Wii…
“do we have angry fanboys yet? ”
Oh do we ever. They’ve been popping up in the comments pretty regularly for the last few months.
Without sarcasm, I really do feel bad for people who want one and can’t get one yet. I’ve been having a blast with mine, and 2 of my Wii-seeking friends have been out of luck.
Add to that the fact that about 70% of the people I show the Wii to end up wanting one, and you’ve got even more demand. Keep pumping them out, Nintendo!
I don’t know… those pancakes can be pretty yummy…. mmmmmm pancakes.
I waited 3 hours in near 30 degree weather on Black Friday to get one. Worth every second I waited.
Zelda is surprisingly awesome coming from someone who DIDN’T like Ocarina of Time.
I recommend people get Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz if they want a nice all inclusive tech demo of how versitle the Wiimote can be.
Heh, I can’t believe I was ever on the fence about buying this thing.
Hip Hip Hurray for Nintendo. Let the sleeping Giant awaken. Seriously, this is great. What a great little console. Worth every penny of the $250.
If you’re a crafty ebayer, you can get one for around $300 at this point. I’m trying to save money, so I hope retail stores get some stock in the next week or so. If not, I’ll be forced to pay the ebay markup (but hey, at least it’s not the PS3 ebay markup.)
