Zune: Under The Pink

Ok, so the Zune isn’t just taking the world by storm. Its super-cool features turned out to be erratic and not that super-cool after all, and its screen, which is larger than that of the iPod, has the same old resolution. Boo. But if we’ve learned anything, gamers, technophiles, and those of us with Microsoft Points burning a hole in our virtual pockets, it’s that pink sells. Well… (Ahem.) At least it gets attention.

Attention, perhaps, but limited supply. Word is there are only 100 of these babies out there, but if you’re a Microsoft fanboy (is that even a real species of fanboy, or is it just a MacGuffin?) and you’re a pinkster, now is the time to hit the eBay.

i’m waiting for a few more revisions to see if big MS can sneak up on apple like they snuck up on sony and nintendo. i suppose i’m waiting for the zune to have a PRETTY GOOD YEAR, RITE. (i’m relying on an ipod photo 60g at time of writing. dumb buy considering the videos came out damn near immediately following the photos’ release..)

the biggest complaint i have right now is lack of mass storage device usage – it won’t act as a big harddrive like almost every other portable media player on earth currently does. (not too thrilled about having to switch over to WMP10, either, but i guess you’re just switching from one memory hog to another anyway.)

ON TOPIC, i always loved the brown one. it’s so earthy looking, like sunlight and granola… and corduroy from banana republic.

IIEEE, voltRis, i agree. when it comes to mp3 players, MS has been Silent All These Years…a few more generations of Zunes could really see MS Putting The Damage On and make the iPod a Professional Widow…

The features don’t really take me TO VENUS AND BACK but I admit an mp3 player in this shade of pink is A SORTA FAIRY TALE come true for me

Eek I’m not THAT gay yet.

Supposedly MS did a lot of market research and they came up with “brown” being the next big color, and that’s why we got brown. Judging from the brown model’s Amazon ranking, I’d say their research was a tad flkawed.

Now the pink I dunno where that came from. But it’s cute including them unannounced as a little surprise.

i’m pretty sure i read somewhere that the pink and orange (or maybe AGENT ORANGE) color models were sent out as gifts to dev teams and families and whatnot.

(did i do it rite) ??
