Africa MMO Trailer
The worlds of MMOs are most often steeped in the mythos of swords and sorcery. But Rapid Reality’s new MMO Africa breaks out of this mold to create what looks to be an amazing game. Think World of Warcraft meets The Lion King...
Africa is set in medieval Africa, when great cities and mighty kingdoms emerged on the northern and southern edges of the Sahara. Camels the so-called “ships of the desert” made the long trek across this ocean of sand. Sundiata ruled over the grassland kingdom of Mali, the Mamluks controlled Egypt, and the Swahili city states traded with Persia, Arabia, and India. It was a time of thriving trade, expanding empires, and epic battles.
The initial release will focus on West Africa, from the Mahgreb region in the north to the Kingdoms of Mali and Songhay in the south. Later expansions, already in concept, will focus on Egypt, the Swahili city states, Great Zimbabwe, and the forest Kingdoms of the Congo.
This is a really bold step to take in a world of games dominated by elves, orcs and wizards, and I applaud Rapid Reality for daring to fly in the face of traditional MMOs by creating something that looks truly original.

Awesome. Purely awesome. I don’t normally go in for MMO’s, but this look so cool, and has such an intriguing premise, I may just have to bite. Looks spectacular!
I just watched the official trailer on the site, it’s astounding. I was stunned by the majestic beauty of the presentation. This game looks unlike any other. Afrika is a true original, and bravo to the development team for taking such a chance with this game. If this is a PS3 exclusive, I might have to pick up one of these systems. Hopefully Ed McMahon will show up on my doorstep with one of them BIG checks. Someday my prince will come.
My! it’s so beautiful! Maybe I should invest in MMOs for once…
