Fan Made Zelda Movie Trailer
This little piece of video has been floating around the intertubes for a while, but going back through the archives, I realized we had actually never posted it.
This is a trailer for a fan made Zelda movie entitled The Legend of Zelda: The Hero of Time created by BMB finishes, a group of Zelda fans. These are just some snippets of what is supposed to be a full length feature being released some time in the foreseeable future.
The trailer is in turns kind of interesting and at other times, kinda cheap. They do an excellent job of showing you just enough to show off some rather nice locations. One thing that sticks out most for me is Link. While he is undoubtedly cute, he has a certain lantern-jaw quality that seems rather un-Link. Then there’s his wig….
Look, I love cosplayers, but I notice that many times, the wig is the last thing they buy and they usually go for some cheap Halloween thing out of the bargain bin. People, the hair is just as important as the rest of the costume!
But, back to Link’s wig.. it’s terrible! First off it’s the wrong color, not to mention the wrong style. And if for some reason it isn’t a wig, for god sake someone get that boy some conditioner.

i’m at a loss. in total agreement re the hair, though. yeesh. although, i’m fairly certain that there’s a dearth of bumble and bumble salons in kokiri village, so i don’t know if he’s washing in magic fairy-spring water or what in the games.
also, i’m one of those guys who doubts he’s cute. i dunno – maybe just not my type.
the best part, though, is the website. “release date: to be advised” advised by whom? zelda herself?
I’m going to extend the complaints about Link to the entire cast. The movie looked awesome until people started showing up in it. The only character that looks more fake than Link is Ganondorf.
That looks cute. They certainly seem to be having fun.
Link is a bit too old though. Isn’t he usually more of a twink?
Oh, and isn’t Link left handed? Twilight princes is mirrored to cater for the majority of people playing right handed with their wiimotes, but previously (and still in the GC version!) I believe the boy is left handed.
Hey, I gotta give them credit for putting the trailer together. But, yes, the the wig is terrible.
ok the hair is awful!!! this trailer needs fairies and i dont just mean tingle i mean the real fairies that aid link!!!! oh and one more thing it needs naked men, maybe a scene of link bathing in the river?
Hehe, BoT is right, they definitely deserve props for attempting this. I want to know how they got to shoot those castle scenes! My comments about the main character costumes still stand though. ;)
Hahah. I agree, the hair is terrible. But the locations are pretty awesome and look very zelda-like. :)
Hell to the no! Not just the wig but using the music from Requiem for a Dream / Lord of the Rings Trailer just made it even more clear this is such a wanna be! Whitney got one thing right when she said..HELL TO THE NO!
Hell to the no!
john u r amazing!!!! let cam sometime
It’s not a wig, you can see the roots…
Well, it’s 2006, and anyone can make a BBC production if they want to. ;)
I think the way to watch these things, is more like if they were a play, than a commercial movie. Then I find that they’re a lot of fun to watch.
OK, I’m no fan of twinks, but Link really should be one. At least until they release “The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Mineshaft.” phail++;
Link is too old for these scenes. in fact, the person protraying him is entirely too old. at his eldest, Link could be considered 17 or 18. Miyamoto has said that he is a young boy around the age of 8 or 9 in the first, and OoT has him start as someone who looks no older than 8 or 9 who gets jumped 7 years into the future.
Link’s the original “jail bait” hero.
Link just doesn’t fit … Neither does Zelda … :(
Yeah, that is definitely not a wig…that is the worst dye job I’ve ever seen, and does anyone know what nationality these people are? This has to be a UK production.
While I’m kind of excited by the prospect of a Zelda Fan-made movie, but this just reminds me of every terrible Star Trek Fan-Production ever made. They can fake fight scenes and special effects but it’s no surprise there is no real sample of their acting…which makes me really doubtful. I’m always sceptical of fan-made media (expect for Street Fighter: The Later Years, that’s actually really cool).
Link’s hair isn’t the only problem about him. Has anyone else realized that Link’s costume looks completely fake? Everyone else seems to have authentic looking medieval clothing except Link. His costume looks like it was made from Jo-Ann Fabrics. The whites of his pants are too white for a guy adventuring through the forest and the green of his tunic is just awful. It needs to be more washed out and subtle.
These people may be brave for doing it, but they really need to have more involvement with a community of gamers who can tell them what NOT to do.
