Halo 3 Beta Gets 140,000 Entries In 24 Hours

Some of you may remember the massive hubbub of last week’s Halo 3 advertisement during Monday Night Football, and the subsequent madness of registering for a chance at the beta (I managed to register early via black magic). Well, today, Microsoft has come out and said that over 140,000 people signed up for a chance at the beta within 24 hours. Here’s what IGN reports:
Today, Microsoft revealed that more than 140,000 people signed up for the North American beta within the first 24 hours. During that period, halo3.com was bogged down with requests and for many the sign-up page would not load. Registration is still open to the public. To participate in the beta, you need an Xbox 360 with hard drive, an Xbox Live Gold account and a Microsoft.NET Passport account linked to your gamertag.
Microsoft and Bungie have other methods planned to allow gamers to get into the public beta. Those methods are expected to be announced soon.
That’s exciting news. So, if you don’t feel like going to the official Halo 3 site, keep your eyes and ears open for other ways of joining the beta. I really hope that I get a chance at the beta, that’d be awesome. Let us know if you were lucky enough to get chosen and tell us all about it!
