Look Ma, One Hand!

This…this is not what I had in mind when I told Santa I needed to keep one hand free while playing Dead Rising with a shirtless Frank West. But it’ll do. The DIY-minded Benjamin Heckendorn of benheck.com cobbled together this sweet-looking one-hander, which features all buttons and rumble. The right analog stick and buttons are on the underside, although the whole ordeal presented some problems:
I managed to get both rumble controllers on this thing because I didn’t want to accidentally build a Sixaxis. The right analog shoulder button has been moved down and flipped for use with the pinky finger. The X Y B A triggers, along with right bumper, have been rewired with tact switches to the middle for actuation by the middle and ring fingers. The left analog trigger and left bumper have not been moved. It will take some getting used to but everything is within reach. Pulling the right trigger with the pinky isn’t that hard, though who knows after a marathon of Oblivion rat-killing what could happen.
He didn’t want to “accidentally build a Sixaxis.” That’s comedy! Kudos to this guy for expending a very large amount of energy building something that saves a very small amount of energy. There should be an award for that.
