More 360 Vs. PS3 Comparisons

In what is becoming an increasingly public series of duels, the Xbox 360 has once again been declared the winner after being compared side-by-side with Sony’s new console.

It turns out that after Gamespot’s recent feature comparing screenshots provided by the two consoles, both CNBC and BET were on hand to film gameplay comparisons at the famed Apollo Theater. At an event hosted by H3 Enterprises, Harlem’s “top rappers” played both consoles’ versions of Fight Night on massive screens in the theater:

any of Harlem’s top rappers and “Fight Night” aficionados were given the opportunity to participate and experience the varied features that both consoles offer. The final results were unanimous and resounding.

“Xbox is flat-out better both visually and mechanically,” said H3’s chief communications officer and world class gamer, Adrian “Hollywood” Walton. “When ‘Fight Night’ is played at its highest level with the highest possible resolution, everyone was able to see Xbox 360’s superiority to PS3 as clear as can be on H3TV.”

Man, Sony just can’t seem to catch a break these days, can they? Personally, I’m waiting for some more original games for the PS3 before I cast final judgment on the console’s game quality.

It really isn’t fair to do these types of things with games that just came out and are basically ports.

Do this in a year with Ps3 games basically compare the generations of games. Then I think you can see who the true winner is (and it may still very well be the 360)

I don’t just say that because I own a ps3 either. Plus I don’t have a 360 so the graphics don’t matter as I only have the option to play one :D

Well, I agree that these are largely pointless comparisons. But for me at least (speaking as someone who doesn’t watch a lot of movies and finds 320×240 Xvid a perfectly fine way to watch episodic TV) the PS3 wouldn’t just have to be better than the 360, but $100 better.

Of course, I won’t be buying either one until they’re a couple hundred less, but last generation I ended up picking the PS2 over the Xbox despite graphics that were crappier than what I was seeing on my Gamecube. Why? It had Katamari and the Xbox didn’t. Then it got Okami and the Xbox didn’t. Guitar Hero, Rez, etc. No idea how it’ll play out a couple years down the road…. maybe the Wii will end up being the console of choice for third parties and I won’t have to buy a second one.

We get it! It’s not worth a buy right now. First of all why would you want to buy a port of another console’s game for a newer system anyway? Also: What ever happened to console exclusivity? Oh… That’s right… Sony, for some reason or another, likes to take all that it can get.

Personally, I’m sick of Sony and it’s massive amount of titles. Don’t get me wrong; I’ve always enjoyed the exclusive Playstation titles that are released with no hype. But games like the Metal Gear Solid series have never really jumped out at me.

What amazes me is how there is such a huge demand for the Playstation 3 right now. I wonder if it’s really just the fans that have been made in the past, or if it’s the upcoming holidays. I would like to see an APA survey conducted to understand the psyche of a Playstation fan. Also: Who are these people on eBay paying huge amounts of money for one? Are they the least educated of all?

Why is it people can’t be patient and wait for when PS3s are common, cheap, and have a great selection of games? I think the reality lies in greed. PS3s are like gold in a world where eBay allows us to turn these things into a currency. Perhaps the real solution to this problem would be to better communicate the weakness of the PS3, not for its comparable graphics, but for its youth and price which is far too high.

Here’s a question I’d like to ask you, honestly, and I want you to think about this: Is Sony doing civilization or the world as we know it any good? If I had to choose between making a 600 dollar console that would be so rare it would go on eBay for $1500 + in some instance or building a 50 dollar laptop that runs 6-10-year old hardware, but can be easily affordable to the poor, and I was Sony, I’d want to build that Laptop. I’d still make a profit, and I’d make information more easily accessible to the world in areas it might not have been previously. They’re so rich they could probably construct a world-wide satellite communication network to work with said 50 dollar (or even less) laptops and bring communication to the masses. Even cheaper technology could probably be constructed and afforded for the poor, unfortunately software companies (most specifically, Microsoft) haven’t considered the option of making easily affordable, limited editions of their software or operating systems for the poor. I wonder why? I suppose the answer lies, again, in greed because it isn’t just a problem of the fans or people waiting in the rain to buy a PS3 just to sell it on eBay, it’s everybody’s problem in this day and age.

I’m not a fanboy. I actually hadn’t used my old ps2 for a year, it just so happened I was in Wal-mart a few weeks ago (was looking for a Wii really) and they just happened to have one sitting in their display box. I wasn’t going to pass that up so I bought it.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
