Neverwinter Nupdate

Obsidian Entertainment released a ginormous patch for their big new RPG, Neverwinter Nights 2, which as we’ve said before is a tremendously fun game that’s been plagued with poor performance and a camera system that seems bent on pointing anywhere but in the right direction. Standard RPG features like weapon-switching dealies and not painfully annoying merchant transactions were also missing at launch. This follows much the same path as the game’s predecessor, which also saw months and months of patches roll out that added admittedly awesome content to the game but essentially meant that an incomplete game was slowly finalized over time.
Whether hurried publishers or the demands of a seasonal market held the game back, Obsidian has addressed major concerns in their new 1.03 patch, including the aforementioned weapon hot buttons and camera improvements as well as a literal, actual, factual buttload of graphical optimizations, like anti-aliasing. What PC game doesn’t ship with anti-aliasing? At least it’s there now, and I can tell you it makes the game look much more modern, and although some of the new camera options went crazy on me at first, I’m finding that I’m having a much easier time killing bad guys and solving mysteries while leveling up. D20 4 EVA!
