NY Times Dissects The Wii-mote
The New York Times has written an article about the Wii and its interesting innards. Want to know how this thing works and learn the true genius of Nintendo? Then look no further, hit the link to read it for yourself.
It details the Wii-mote’s use of Bluetooth to relay information from the buttons and the return of information to the Wii-mote from the Wii. The article also discusses how the Wii-mote’s micron-size machines work together and the operations of the Wii’s sensor bar bring you an exciting new way of playing games. It’s very interesting, I promise. I had no idea it was that complicated. Like I said, click the link for the full article…and the pic on the right is clickable, too.

It’s funny that so many sites have dissected the Wiimote but no one’s been able to take the main Wii unit and go, “OK, here’s what’s really in it…. and the CPU really does run at 729MHz and the GPU at 243MHz.”
I mean, at this point it’s completely academic, but since all the specs posted, including IGN’s, have been taken from that hoax post back in July, I’d still like to know.
BTW, check http://www.bugmenot.com/
for an account. I love that it’s working with FF 2 now.
