Okami And Godhand On 360?

As much as Okami proved you didn’t need new hardware or a team of next-gen gnomes pumping out stratospheric resolutions to make and enjoy an awesome game, I’d love to see how it purrs on the 360. With Clover Studios wilted and dead, Capcom appears to be doing away with PS2 exclusivity on both Okami and Godhand, according to a very non-English press statement that Live Gamer and Aeropause have taken to mean that Capcom will bring updated versions of both games to a 360 near you.
It would be cool, but as both of my Far East translators are out sick this week, and my Holiday Reflexologist is too busy working on my feet, I cannot confirm.
But I can affirm: that would be great! If they could magically make Okami into a full-on 1080i 360 game, I’d shut up about “great gameplay winning over great graphics any day” right quick.
Cuz I’m a traitor.
Also, Live Gamer reports a similar development over at From Software, which apparently can’t sell enough copies of its Armored Core 4 because there aren’t enough PS3s available on which to play the game, and will be releasing Armored Core 4 for the 360, in freaking Japan, on March 22.

Okami? On the 360?
[gasm]
I’d plotz! And I’d buy it.
*&%# yeah! The only game that at least made me think for 0,1 second that I could buy a PS2 just for a Playstation exclusive…
I was one in doubt between Wii and 360, but was too worried Wii games were too much web “flash” games like, like those your friends send you by email.
My recent 360 purchase is proving out to be quite dreamy, with Psychonauts and now Okami…
(but if they start to know how to use that wiimote creatively and add adventure games to it, I’m there)
You still need to play Shadow of the Colossus
Have it for ps2…and you know what? I’d buy it on 360. It was just that great of a game.
oooo that would be sweet :) but it looks like it was a mistranslation :( sucks… would have loved it on the 360, never got that far into the PS2 one .
I’m still mad that Okami wasn’t a Gamecube exclusive like it was when it was originally announced.
The report is wrong. Someone translated the japanese press release wrong. The true statement was that Okami and Godhand are going to be release in Australia and New Zealand this year along with Lost Planet.
Here’s the english press release for you:
To prepare for the coming demand in next-generation video games,
Capcom has been strengthening its sales and marketing efforts in
territories outside of Japan, and the results of this change have
proven favorable. To continue to expand sales outside of Japan, Capcom
has turned its eye to the growing video game markets of Australia and
New Zealand and will work together with Activision, who has an
extensive distribution network in place in those territories. The
first title to be distributed in this manner will be the Xbox 360™
title “Lost Planet Extreme Condition” in early 2007, followed by
“Okami” and “God Hand” for the Sony PlayStation® 2.
Well, I have a PS2 and will be buying and playing Okami as soon as I have time (and have finished Twilight Princess, which I have already but have only spent 3 hours on), but if it did for some reason come out for the 360 and not the Wii and I hadn’t played it yet, that would totally push me onto the lame Wii60 bandwagon.
Also, if the gameplay is exactly the same on two platforms but one of them has sweeter graphics, sure, I’ll get the prettier one. Except in the case of Gottlieb Pinball Classics, which is like 40 bucks for the Wii and 7 bucks for the PS2. (And I’d rather use shoulder buttons for a pinball game than “jerkin’ back and forth” anyway.)
